Record crowd as our first EPL match vs Manchester City is sold out. 62,500
Every seat has gone looking at the ticket office online. As I understand it the match day capacity is now 62,500.
That is a remarkable achievement for a our amazing club. If correct and we can sustain full houses at the new capacity we will be the UK's second best supported club.
Only Manchester United will exceed our weekly attendances.

I was in Almeria, Spain, about four weeks ago and the sea was clear. Fast forward about three weeks and the sea at both Mablethorpe and Theddlethorpe beaches in Lincolnshire was a murky brown.

Bang on.

I've got 4 foreign holidays booked this year so far (exc long weekends),

3 with partner and 1 with biker mates.

Mega this year (especially as I'm a contractor with no holiday pay) - cashing up on covid years when only had 1.

Climate change might persuade me to vacation UK in the future, so long as they stop pumping sewage into the sea. Was in Hove last weekend and the seafront stank like a sewage works.

"I know you expect it but saw loads of fans with obscure shirts that weren't WH or City."

Some of those will be Hammers, wearing the shirt of the amateur team they or their kids play for.

That’s right though…. There are over 70k seats in the Olympic stadium.

The extra 2.5k was due to reconfigurations in the west stand

gotcha - that makes sense - cheers

I know from sitting there at the athletics World Championships in 2017 or whenever it was that from those seats at the very top of the BMU and TBU you can't see the big screen at the opposite end as the roof structure is in the way.

I'm sure fans would snap up more tickers if they were guaranteed restricted view

I believe some of those seats at the back were meant to be used for the first time this season. They are the new band 6 seats.

Don’t be surprised if, following the Commonwealth games, the Alexander Stadium in Birmingham becomes the venue of choice for future international and Diamond league events.

The Birmingham officials have even spoken about applying to hold a future World Athletic championships at their stadium.

The so called athletics legacy of the London Stadium might not be of such significance in the future with Birmingham equipped for international events.

Great crowd, dire performance. Would still rather watch at Upton Park with 30,000 there.

Great crowd tourists or not , when you consider the success city have had recently and they rarely sell out.

I don't usually, but definitely saw a few tourists in the concourse yesterday.

Guess a fair few STH are away on holiday and relisted or sold on their tickets. Happens a bit in August.

You can add another 11 to that total of those who were there just as spectators

Shame we can't field a side worthy of 62500 spectators !

Maybe next year when hopefully Kretinsky takes full control and dips into his pockets until then how can teams compete with the players the likes of Man city Liverpool are able to buy ? yes you get the odd giant killing aka Brighton yesterday but success will normally depend on flashing the cash.

Great to have a large capacity but loads of day trippers and neutrals yesterday made for a subdued atmosphere.

I know you expect it but saw loads of fans with obscure shirts that weren't WH or City.

My ticket works out at £13.50. - what you get for being an old c**t.

Re: Record crowd as our first EPL match vs Manchester City is sold out. 62,500
So, we are all set to play in front of another record crowd. All tickets sold. Some STH's available on exchange but a crowd in excess of 62,000 is guaranteed.

Only Manchester United will have a larger gate this weekend.

Something to be proud of

I agree.

That's why a season ticket is such fantastic value compared to the price of a match day ticket.
